Our mission is to empower residents of Mason County by providing access to resources that can improve their financial well-being.
Asset Building Coalition of Mason County (ABCMC) was established in 2010. Since then, we have researched the needs of our county and have partnered with many organizations, non-profit agencies, and coalitions to best ascertain how we will serve our community and offer asset building programs to our citizens in order to fight poverty. ABCMC is currently responsible for the success of five economic opportunity programs:
One-on-One Financial Coaching
Money 101-Financial Wellbeing Series
Financial Education Workshops
Earned Income Tax Credit and FREE Tax Preparation Sites Awareness
Bank On Mason
Low and moderate income residents in Mason County increase their abilities to be self-sufficient and financially stable with the help of these programs. The best way a person can rise out of poverty or avoid homelessness is to develop skills and knowledge necessary for managing income. The Coalition works to ensure that Mason County citizens have access to every resource that can better their financial circumstances.
Working Families Tax Credit
ABCMC is part of a concentrated effort to spread the word about the new Working Families Tax Credit (WFTC). Applications for the 2023 tax season will be available in February of 2024.
Affordable Banking
Certified accounts through the Bank On National Standards are designed for those seeking a bank account for the first time or are in need of a second chance. Click the link below for more information about participating financial institutions in Mason County!
Financial Education & Mentoring
We offer FREE financial coaching to people living in Mason County. Our coalition member Peninsula Credit Union also offers FREE financial coaching services.

Tax Preparation Assistance
We work with the local AARP Tax-Aide Foundation site to offer FREE tax preparation services to low-income people living in Mason County. This site does NOT have any age minimum and clients do NOT need an AARP membership.
