[personal note]

I want to let you know that the Bank On Washington annual forum is coming up! You can join us on September 2nd & 3rd at University of Washington - Tacoma! This year’s theme is Bridges Over Barriers: An Economic Justice Forum.

The BOWA Forum has been a place to explore the barriers faced by marginalized communities that have been historically excluded from mainstream financial services, and the barriers for service providers trying to build effective programs to meet these challenges.

Our goals are to learn, build relationships, and find collaboration partners for the year ahead. We do this by fostering understanding and partnerships across sectors, that may have vastly different systems and strategies but share a common goal of increasing financial empowerment for everyone.

This event is for community professionals committed to advancing inclusive banking and financial wellbeing for all Washingtonians!

I’m reaching out to invite you to an event dedicated to advancing the financial wellbeing of all Washingtonians, including our immigrant and refugee populations. I know you understand the importance of safe and accessible financial services for these vulnerable communities amid tumultuous circumstances and changing federal policy. Join me at the Bank On Washington Annual Forum to connect with other community professionals with the same goals!

The Bank On Washington Annual Forum is on September 2nd & 3rd at UW Tacoma and the theme this year is Bridges Over Barriers: An Economic Justice Forum.

If you’re unfamiliar with Bank On Washington and their yearly conference, it’s a forum to examine the financial and economic barriers faced by marginalized communities that have been historically excluded from mainstream financial services, and the opportunities for service providers to build effective programs to meet these challenges. Our objective is to foster understanding and partnerships across sectors that may have vastly different systems and strategies but share a common goal of increasing financial empowerment for everyone.

This year, attendees will have the opportunity to join one of four distinct learning tracks dedicated to exploring solutions within a specific theme. The track I’m most excited about will be focused on the financial landscape for immigrants and refugees. We will delve into the question: How do we support these communities and their long-term success while meeting the needs of the moment?

The BOWA forum creates a unique opportunity for people from different sectors - nonprofits, financial institutions, government, small business – to collaborate and learn together. We would all benefit from you bringing your knowledge and experience to this gathering.

Registration is now open - hope to see you there!
